Amazon.com: All We Have Left: 9781681194325: Mills, Wendy: Books

Have you read this book yet?  It’s one of my favorite books, and today, I wanted to tell you a little bit more about it. This book may not be popular, but it definitely is one that needs to be!

Since I’ll be raving on and on about how great this book is anyways, I decided to leave a little section of disclaimers. This book is funny, it’s deep, and it’s highly- symbolic. However, the book isn’t exactly made for kids under the age of ten, which is quite unusual for Wendy Mils. The reason it may not be suitable for kids at that age is that this book has major issues like trauma, depression, and some graphic violence scenes. It is a 9/11 story, so it would make sense for there to be a little violence, but if you aren’t the type of person who enjoys reading about that kind of a thing, I would stay back from this book. That being said, the most the violence will get to is a little blood, and I was surprised by my high-liking for the book. Don’t be fooled by the innocent looking cover.

Ok, enough with the disclaimers…let’s get into the good stuff! Here are 3 reasons that YOU should read “All We Have Left” by Wendy Mills!

  1. The suspense is constantly high

Let’s face it. No one likes a book that takes FOREVER to get into the good part. We read books FOR the thrill, the suspense, and the excitement, NOT for the waste of pages. One of my biggest annoyances with books is when they tell you that you’re reading an action-packed book, but you end up listening to a character tell you about their boring life for 200 pages. It’s a book, not YouTube! Don’t book-bait us! This book is the exact opposite. The cover can make it seem like there won’t be much suspense in the story, but this book’s action rises up from the second you open the first page, and stays up until you drop the book out of shock at the last page.

  1. The plot is REALLY good

This isn’t your average story about 9/11. There are two perspectives, one from the past, when 9/11 was actually happening, and one from current times, mourning the past. One of the characters, Alia, is a girl who is actually INSIDE the Twin Towers when the attack is going on, and she must escape while trusting a boy she JUST met. The other character is Jesse, a girl who has some trouble with law enforcement, and believes that her brother’s death at the twin towers always meant something more. When both characters come together, they are able to solve many mysteries of their lives together

  1. It’s heartwarming.

If the two reasons above haven’t convinced you, then this one hopefully will. If you are in the mood for something that isn’t only a good read, but is also resonating, this a book for you. In the past year itself, I’ve read this book 4 times! (It’s over 300 pages, more than the first Harry Potter book!) This is a book I will remember for the rest of my life, and it’s really hard to find books like that. Definitely recommend the read!
